The INVEST project, co-funded by the European Commission, has launched an innovative training initiative aimed at strengthening green and digital competences among vocational education and training (VET) providers in the Western Balkans. Focused on empowering individuals and institutions to adapt to new labour market demands, the programme seeks to build a more sustainable and resilient future for the region.
The training is part of a wider effort to establish a network of vocational schools as centres for continuous professional development, promoting lifelong learning and aligning educational practices with European standards. By adapting educational materials to local contexts and languages, the program ensures that participants receive relevant, accessible and practical knowledge.
Local pilot projects, organized in cooperation with secondary schools for vocational education, form an essential component of the training. These pilot projects provide hands-on experience in digital literacy and sustainable consumption, directly involving learners and trainers in real-world applications of green and digital skills. Each participating school acts as a regional hub for innovation and capacity building, fostering stronger links between education providers and industry stakeholders.
Participants who complete the training will receive an official certificate, recognizing their new competencies and their contribution to a more sustainable future. The feedback gathered from these pilot projects will serve as a critical input for the preparation of the final INVEST pilot report and recommendations, which will offer strategic guidance for the further development of vocational education and training programmes in the Western Balkans.
By investing in skills that are important for tomorrow, the INVEST project not only addresses current training needs, but also paves the way for long-term educational and economic transformation. Through collaboration, innovation and a strong focus on sustainability, the project shows that empowering education is key to unlocking the potential of the next generation.
